I feel old.

And yeah, found the club good for the odd once a year drive but had more fun riding the motorbike, meeting random people on the road and then joining them on a cruise.

Also had more fun meeting with the forum guys who actually do stuff to their car... Otherwise I may as well go to a prius meet

Well we have been a member of the mx5 club for 7 seven years now and at 47 was usually the youngest there and practically are still even now on the odd occasion we still go on a run with the club.I have to thank the club for getting me into mx5's especially more so for the Taupo Driver Training days which led me to buying and modding my car and turning an oldish fart into an oldish track hoon!

So why do all you young guys drive mx5 pensioner cars then? :D

To me, age has little bearing on anything and I can socialize with anyone. The only reason I mentioned the subject was that some people do struggle to interact with people a generation or two older than them so I felt it was worth mentioning in relation to the mx5club.

I feel that it all comes down to affordability. the roadster is the cheapest convertible sports car and thus fits the financial criteria for both young and not-so-young alike :)

no need for a sad face on that one mate, between 20-30 years old was some of the best times of my life :) I only asked because from some of your comments I just thought you were a lot younger

I got the MX because I needed a 2 seater. Got sick of being everyone's taxi and now that my car is a 2 seater and "uncomfortable", I never drive anyone

Car still makes me smile when I drive (not in traffic)

I have lowered my car by 30mm, added full body kit, aftermarket tail lights, roll bar, 17" wheels, 2.5 front with aftermarket headlights onto a MKII and had a full respray. Yes I do belong to the MX5 Club and have done for 4 years.
I am 59 so pissing around with your car is not for just the young it is for the young at heart too.

Hr Grey you havn't mentioned your age yet
I didn't make a mistake. I gave you a observation test and you JUST passed.

I think it's a lot easier to talk to older guys then people my age.

Some people in different car groups are quite stand offish which sucks and isnt very fun.
That being said, they're mostly 17-25 ish or what ever, wear baggy t shirts and flat hats.

I've found that this MX5 lot has been the best community ive been a part of.
Everyone's friendly and I can just go straight up and introduce myself etc.

This community is one of the reasons I knew I bought the right car. Everyone here I have met in person has proven to be a helpful and nice person and its great to share our passions for our lil' roadsters.

I honestly challenge anyone to try and find a better bunch of car enthusiasts :)

/high five everyone!

Motorbike guys are usually really friendly too since I think we all share the temporary citizen thing. Although the guys in black leather jackets, skull type helmets on Harleys with patches on their backs for some reason never wave back... Strange bunch they are

46 and and see no reason to have a sensable car. Mid life crisis? I have had one for the last 30 years then!

26. It was an affordable RWD sports car and to my surprise after first driving one, capable and rewarding (albeit with the acceleration of a minivan).

At first I was ambivalent about the convertible bit, but I figure I might die at 50 and never get a chance to have a proper midlife crisis :P
