What is the point of Karma?

Isn't it really just a pointless feature that serves no purpose?

Although it doesn't usually mean much to me, I notice that on occasion when I post an amusing image or video that some sad little grinch is upset and deducts karma from me. After I posted the Danny Glover link in 2old4this's turbo thread I notice I have been deducted karma.

My reason for starting this thread is not because of the karma per'se (I mean look at Chris's, lol) but what I am concerned about (because I am old school) is that someone has an issue and yet is too much of a gutless pussy to have the balls to actually address their concerns by speaking to the person. If you have a problem why not speak up about it? And if the issue is with someone having a sense of humor and expressing it in a digital form then why is that person so bitter? If humor was not allowed on this forum and it was all about thuper therious thtuff only, then wouldn't this be mentioned in the rules?

It would be nice if we could have some serious debate on this (and I would be happier if the person who has an issue with me would be man/woman enough to identify themselves so we can sort things out)

as I said tho', its not really a QQ about karma, its more that someone is upset enough to down vote someone and yet lacks the testicular fortitude to openly speak with them about it.

if someone has an issue, the say so, I don't bite and although we may agree to disagree at least we would have had the opportunity to discuss it as adults.
