Well, I picked up a second mx5.
TROLOL will be getting a 1.9 build next year.. However, the plan for the second mx5 is Boost.
I won't call this a build thread, because it isn't.
Aiming for around 200 whp. And more than anything aiming to do this over a weekend, preferably overnight, but a weekend is more realistic.
Will keep this thread updated with progress.
At the moment, turbo and manifold are sorted, the intercooler is being looked into, then ecu... Anything cheap that comes up!

mega squirt and some blue EV WRX injectors will easily get your goal. any cheap repco ebay intercooler will do the trick.
then if you want to get tricky add Coil on plugs and electronic boost control.

A lot of people here have turbo'ed their MX5, so there is a lot of experience here on how to do it correctly, and cheaply avoiding unnecessary pitfalls etc.
Do we need a step by step guide on how to do turbo your 5 here in the forum?

As a general guide..turbo,intercooler,ecu,bigger injectors,bigger clutch,bigger brakes,bigger exhaust,dyno tune,low volume cert will be the bare minimum.
Choice of parts depends on what you want to achieve but for high power and track days then factor in a bigger diff as well.
All you really need is...TIME-MONEY-and PATIENCE!

From all my Miataturbo.net reading, sounds like these are wise words!
I also plan on going turbo next year, also gunning for 200hp out of my 1.6!
T28, RX8 injectors, MS with AFM delete, wideband, FM Happy meal clutch blah blah,...
Just need to select decent manifold / downpipe to kick start the project.

guess you'll find out..
2Low2C has been really helpful. I will be doing this after a lot of discussion with him and other turbo gurus.
Megasquirt is a possibility, not ideal, but hell, whatever I can find for cheap
A step by step guide probably isn't needed, but hell it could be a bit of a laugh right?

i saw a recent post where a guy in the states was using a new cast manifold off ebay. looked pretty good quality wise. fits a T25 and places the turbo inlet inline with #2 runner at an angle just like my setup.
