Got black wheels to go with the black stripe under the car to go with the black hardtop/window frame that got repainted 8) Might end up with some black side skirts if I'm not careful

Something like this but hopefully a lot sexier

I don't do wrap unless I have to  Just cant justify the cost of real CF either  (I plan to go with more of a permanent replacement of the carbon wrapped airbag cover once my long list of stuff I haven't done gets shorter :D )

I have some real Carbon matt but its big squares 20+mm, ironically it would make it heavier if you threw it on.

Now enough ruining this thread what was it about again?

How the RPF1s are the perfect wheels for the MX5

Should clarify that by "justify" I mean "can't afford"

no point in a 8" wide wheel with stock power If you want to go fast.
I sense that comments aimed at me
Nah its aimed at alll the Stance boys(And girls) with huge wheels and stock engines

To be honest Its just my opinion, I watch the RS Aizawa car with 190PS rocking 15-6.5J and 195/50s I cant see how most people will need much more.
Just FYI Spec Miatas are basically stock and quick as all hell also they run 9" wide wheels because more grip less weight equals fast

1. Increased tension on sidewall reduces unwanted deflection and distortion.
a. Quicker steering response
b. Reduce camber loss from sidewall deflection
c. More linear steering response at max slip angle

2. Increased air volume
a. Lower pressures allow tread to conform to road surface better, improving grip.
b. Increased air volume temperature fluctuates less with thread heating/cooling.

3. Contact patch is increased by decreasing psi loading per unit area (lower air pressure and wider rim). Imagine pressing hard inflated basketball onto ground or mostly deflated basketball onto ground.

a. By lowering loading per unit area, total friction potential per unit area is increased.
b. Tire wear pattern is more even
c. Tire wear rate is improved

In general, a Spec Miata with 205/50 NT01's on 15x7's will run around 39psi hot. The same car with 225/45's on 15x9's will run around 30psi hot
and generate about .25g more lateral grip

All of the things listed can be achieved different ways, as well as depending on suspension set up, tyre, wheel, alignment.

Spec MX5 values are all good for the track but those cars are caged and get the most out of thier tyres.

Road/dailies are a bit different. But yes all of those are facts, but in comparison to an unstated but clearly selected combo.

Look heavy? Last thing you want is a heavy wheel on your car so I guess I'd try find out how much they weigh. The R1FT wheels look promising :D

Wheels (above) are all ugly cheap & heavy, yuk!

There's heaps of quality wheels for sale, don't put heavy junk on your light car.

$1100 is actually cheap for wheels

SSR, Work, Volk, Rays all go for like $2500-5000
