mags tyres, the whole shabang

Hello all, I am almost finished paying off my MX5, making it officially mine

and as a result, I'll have a little more spare cash and would like to put
on some nice new mags.
I hve been listening and reading intently to all your wonderful wealth of
knowledge and have decided that I'm going to go with some 17" mags and nice
low profile tyres (keeping the sizes etc as close to the factory specs as
possible). With this in mind, does anyone have any suggestions? know of any
mags which are well suited etc?

that would be nice 'cept i want some larger rims. Would prefer not to have to
import the mags as well, could work out rather expensive

Scott,

First thing to do is check on the combined weight of the tyre and wheel combo
you think you like. If its much more than the weight of the stock 14" wheel
and tyre you'll stuff up the cars feel on the road. The suspension won't work
properly and it will crash and bang over all the irregularities in the road.

Second thing is to check what the offset of your desired wheel is. If it is
too far from Mazda's designed 45mm again you'll mess up the way the car
behaves. 38mm would be the outside limit, there are plenty that are 35, so
watch out.

You're going to find that if you take these factors into account the field of
choice gets very narrow.

yes as I suspected from the talk in the past, that's why I'm going to take my
time and get them as close to the factory settings (within reason).
