Hello,
We have an HKS Super Mega Flow air system in our 1991 MX5 and need a
replacement filter. Does anyone else have one of these? If so, where in
NZ do you get replacement filters? We can get them imported from the
States at a cost of US$12 but this requires US$27 freight!
Thanks,
Tracey Gunn,
Dunedin.

Tracey,
Is this a cone type filter? Often with these the filter element is intended
to be cleaned, not replaced... if this applies to yours you might be able to
buy a cleaning kit for a K&N filter and use that on yours.
Fletch, what is your filter? Have you had to clean it?

HKS are actually a Japanese company, so importing one from the states
is a bit of a round trip, and maybe not the most economic solution.
Most foam air-filters are designed to be cleaned and re-used, rather
than replaced. Has this one started to disintegrate or is in some
other way un-re-useable?
I dont know off-hand where you can get one locally, but several of the
advertisers in New Zealand Performance Car magazine are HKS agents.
Try contacting some of them.
Good luck,
Fletch.

Mine is a Greddy.
I clean it with sunlight dishwashing soap and water, let it dry, and
re-oil it with K&N filter oil.

try Bitch'n Performance
Darryl Curran
Bitch'n Performance / Audi Art (car audio)
6 / 394 Grey Street
Hamilton East.
send Darryl an email at BITCHN.7@xtra.co.nz I believe he can source HKS
parts.
He is in Hamilton, but no big deal to post a piece of foam.
He is also looking at MX5 club sponsorship - so gotta support him If he
can't get them then he could probably tell you where to look. Let him know
we sent you & make sure he gives you a huge discount
cheers
