Eunos Roadster

Post by Fr.Wayne » Tue Mar 26, 2002 8:13 pm

Hi

I am a new member and I drive a Eunos Roadster 1990 vintage. When starting the
car after the engine has heated up there is a loud tappet noise which only
goes after the oil gets to the top end. This car has a 1600 motor. Is this a
common problem with these engines or is there a problem there?
Also there are two fans side by side at the front of the engine. The left one
does not appear to work. Is this a backup or are they both supposed to work at
the same time?
I would appreciate feedback on these questions when you have the time.

With thanks

Wayne

Hi Wayne,

No its a very common problem. Hydraulic lifters... it can be cured though,
apparently as I've never tried, by several methods. The usual being to
change the viscosity of the oil. But be reassured that negligible damage
will be done. Check out some of the other very good sites around or do a
search here! A good one to look into is http://www.miataforum.com and
another is http://www.miata.net ... :)

As far as the fans go, if you have 2 of them you'll have aircon fitted. If you
are standing "IN FRONT" of the car facing the fans, the right one is the
normal engine cooling fan and the left one is an auxillary fan used to provise
additional cooling when the air con is operated.

Perfectly normal. Gets better when you have an oil change...

Use Genuine Mazda engine oil part number K200W0528M4 this stuff works wonders!
