Shattered dash cover

Post by WideOpenThrottle » Sat Mar 30, 2013 12:02 pm

This is what happens when you try to drill some holes for wires in an old cover!

Next time i will use a soldering iron and melt some holes.

Now to hunt down another.

I always thought that part would be a good contender for a replacement carbon fibre part (purely for looks)- How hard would it have been to fibre glass the inside and put a thin layer of carbon fibre sheet over the outside?
Ex: 1991 BRG NA6, 1998 White RS, 1997 Wine Merlot M Edition

Wouldnt bother with the inside but the outside could be do-able depending on how well the carbon fibre would take to all the curves running different ways.
Might end up disastrous unless you did only the top curvy bit.

for shits and giggles I had a crack at wrapping the shroud with CF vinyl..... long story short, its a complete bastard due to the curves.

if you wanted a CF shroud I would buy one made for it, I wouldn't waste time trying to glue an overcoat of CF on it (I doubt it would have a nice finish)
