What'd you do to your car this week/weekend?

I was fortunate i got mine into a carport for storage, im moving house and its normally in the garage but was going to put it on the road. The roof on mine is def a bit rough, has a couple of patches over drivers seat that were weeping, and dribbles around the windows a bit.

My sister rang me later and told me the carport flooded a little and it ended up sitting in about a inch of water, wouldnt have got any worse than that due to slope, but still.

Yeah mine was dry as a bone when I hopped into it after work, and it wore the brunt of the rain. Dad's landrover had water dripping from both sun roofs, haha.

Hardtop all the way for mine, sat out in the rain taking a pounding, no leaks at all. It get to live inside at home, but not at work.

As i have been concerned with under bonnet temps for the track days, Car didn't overheat on the evening track day but start to register hotter than normal as slowed down on the pull in lap.

I figured it was time to add the bonnett lovres from Fling Miata that came the other day with my bits and pieces.....

The final result.....Have stayed with Black as that is the colour of the roof and I haven't decided on a body colour for the re spray yet (eventually that is...).

Will run with the satin black for the time being....

Looks really neat, like some of the rather exstensivly modified Roadsters but the subtle look is nice too.. I think I dont wanna drill holes

Yes brake fade is not fun but with new fluid it seemed to stop it going spongy on me. Worst fade I've had was at Hampton on the bike. After the main straight where you'd slow down from over 200 there's a second smaller straight where i'd get to 150 but always struggled to slow it at the end... Not fun

This weekend I sorted out my headlight popup switch finally after doing the nb interior swap a year ago

Fitted a second tiedown ratchet mechanism to my (MX5) transporter trailer....would hate to get halfway to the circuit and see only an empty trailer behind me!

Ditched the 17s and replaced with 15s. Huge improvement in ride quality and seems to handle better so plus all round

I've heard of it happening to others, fortunately not me.

One problem with many of currently available ratchet tie-downs is that they can stretch and with no retainer on the hooks, the hooks can disconnect, leaving you with an insecure car on the trailer. I don't trust the hooks any more.

Have just stripped and repainted the rear subframe and suspension arms I bought from Donovan in preparation for new Energy bushes and, initially, a 4.3 torsen. Still have to strip the hubs and uprights but it is a bit tricky trying to undo the hub nut on the bench.

Got the stereo working again, fitted the new Momo wheel, found and fixed a leak in the coolant track, and then took the wee bestie for a cruise to TeKawhata to pick up my daughter from her cousins place that she was staying at, about 150k's on quarter of a tank.

I pissed coolant all over the forecourt of a petrol station this weekend

Appears to be a leak from the thermostat to water pump bypass hose, which fortunately John Andrew Mazda appear to have on the shelf, so it's being picked up as I type. Have the heater and top/bottom hoses at home ready to replace, and will pick up the other three bypass hoses to replace on Saturday.

Will replace the split hose tonight, and the rest will be fun for this weekend!

My fix may not be so simple, it's still seeming to leak out of the same spot even after fitting a new hose, which is rather frustrating.

Any suggestions? The hose is the thermostat to water pump inlet, and it's leaking from where the hose goes over the water pump inlet...

Suppose maybe I should just get the cambelt done and replace the water pump, water pump inlet and thermostat housing/cover...

On the front I am using custom straps through each wheel, then a HD bow shackle to attach each strap to its respective 1 metre strap straight back to each ratchet. At the rear I have HD tiedowns with the 'triangular hook keepers' which Aerofast supplied for me- again 1 for each wheel. Call me anal but I specified my nylon winch rope with a retainer type hook, and this is connected to the front towing eye.
Have always made a point of stopping 10ks into any tow to check tensions. Truckies are usually advised to check their loads every hour...I tend to do the same plus trailer hub temps. New trailer is a tandem so there is a bit more peace of mind over the previous single axle jobbie. Can't believe how many transporters I considered (briefly) that had no trailer brakes!
