Custom Manifold?
Okay so let me start out by say i am starting my project MX-5 (or will be soon when i have money) but i work at a garage, apprenticeship (started not long ago) and there is a mitsubishi libero monte turbo at the garage that is going to the scraps so i have asked the boss and he agreed i could take the turbo out of it for my car, its a TD04HL i think. now doing all of that he said i would need the intercooler for it aswell seen as it is not in bad shape and they are quite expensive.
so to get to the point i would need a new custom manifold for my mx5 because the turbo would not be able to work on my car at the state it is in at the moment, so does anyone know of anyone in the Auckland region of New Zealand that does this sort of work for a good price?
Thanks

yup sinco. you could fab one up yourself with the help of a mate if they are a ticketed welder. thats what i did.
Youll need the turbo, intercooler and maybe even the BOV and injectors if you can score them too. (no idea if the libero injectors are the same or what flow they are.)

just remember, you cant just slap a turbo on the side and be done.
you will need some sort of fuel control otherwise your engine wont last very long.
then there is also the cost of the cert otherwise not having a pink sticker wont last long.
do alot of research on turboing your mx5 before you start
there is more than enough info on the internet to do it.
Just dont rush into it! especially if its your first car and you daily drive it.
cheers

yeah i have been looking into a new clutch because my one at the moment is getting worn out, 2low2c ill pm you now, but for everyone else i have finished getting the turbo out of the scrap car and my boss said it would help if i took all the flanges and intercooler, but i left the piping for the intercooler because it was rusty a little bit and i wasnt to sure weather it would fit in my car.

Can do you a steampipe tuned length, crackfree guarantee Turbo manifold to suit the MX5 with a TD04HL turbo for $600 + freight if you're interested.
Just as good (if not better) than a Sinco manifold and can do downpipe as well.
PM me if you want some pictures

Hampton TEst Day
Hey Jazz
There's a Test and tune day this Friday at Hampton downs
Quite a few of us going, and I'm taking my Turbo Miata
If you're free that day you should bring your beast, and do a few hot laps around Hampton
Would be good to 'checkout' your creation
Or at least pop in and say Hello
If anyone else is keen on taking a sickie - they should come along too.

seriously Vita. i would put the turbo on hold until you have had the car for a while...get the suspension and tires and brakes up to scratch and learn to drive the thing at a trackday before going tits in on a turbo.
I am all for turbos but getting to know the car before it becomes a weapon is probably a good thing.

Vitaskull..... these are wise words. You are a new driver so learn your car and skills before going all out. Direct your funds into other areas of your car and life. Maybe even a life insurance policy or medical insurance.SLYDIT wrote:seriously Vita. i would put the turbo on hold until you have had the car for a while...get the suspension and tires and brakes up to scratch and learn to drive the thing at a trackday before going tits in on a turbo.
