Catalitic converters
Relaxation of requirement:
This requirement has been relaxed to some extent, and now [within the latest version of LVV Standard
90‐10(01)] requires for catalytic converters to be fitted to only those production vehicles that undergo an
engine swap, if the vehicle was manufactured after 1990, and the vehicle was first registered in New
Zealand after 1 May 2012
Good news for me as i now dont need a Cat as i need to get a cert soon and it saves me $$$ and time! Yahoo!

I would say that you definately wont have to worry about Cats' [unless you run over one]!Donovan wrote:so that is 89 and 90 MX5's that don't need the Cat for the cert. Mine is a NZ new 90 and the motor is an 04. Am fixing up a couple of things for the cert process, and a Cat isn't one of them.

See pages 3 & 4 for clarification.
10 May 2010 is the real threshold that will affect most cars by the looks of it.

So basically... No matter what car you have if you give it side exhausts you don't need a catWideOpenThrottle wrote:http://www.lvvta.org.nz/documents/infos ... vision.pdf
