Being an old grandad, I am familier with hp rating. Can anyone give me a simple calculation to convert kw to hp. Cheers

Divide the kW figure by 0.743 (or multiply by 1.351) to get bhp

I just round up the 0.743 to 0.75 so a simple rule is
1hp = 750W
100hp = 75KW

It's the same with electric motors, a 1 hp motor is 750W
common on cheaper power tools is a 1/3 hp or 250W. 1/3hp sounds so much
better from a sales perspective :)

The easiest way to do lots of conversions is within Google

-Just type 50 horsepower in Kilowatts and it will give you the answer

(You can do other things like currency and unit conversions too i.e. 100 NZD in USD, 35 inches in cm etc etc)

Be aware that this one only works for MR2s. MX5 Horsepower is slightly
different.

Thanks everyone. Great help. I'll work on 75kw = 100bhp.
