Members Location - How do I tell where Members are located?

'Yeah I'm thick', a well known fact, but regardless just humor me, how the does one tell where another member is from, been looking for a full 10 minutes & I cannot for the life of me tell where Enth is from other than 'New Zealand' which is not helpful.

What am I missing here

it will only show location if the user has entered their location in their profile, some people just like to keep lowkey...

Thats correct, take a look under your own name . You must have just entered New Zealand when you joined this forum.

I dont know why anyone would not want others to know what town/city they live in.
Even more so when they are advertising in the classifieds.

I think location should be mandatory,in my own opinion.
Saves a lot of hassles when people ask for help,you can at least point them in the right direction.
Maybe make it that only logged on members can see it
It's not as though you will be stalked for you car

I prefer not to be too descriptive re: location..... its better to play it safe in general. I am a "generation X" child which puts me in a position of mild shock and bemusement at the volume of personal information the current generation puts out there for everyone to see. ( I have no facebook, no twitter, no social media what so ever and I like it that way)

remember, once you put personal information out there, its there (pretty much) forever.

-=edit=- I was reading this story in todays herald, and felt this quote was relevant:

"Even if they use a username unrelated to their name, something will end up giving it away, their IP address, email address. Usually after a quick look on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, within five minutes you end up finding the whole life of this person. It's very easy.''

I for one will be staying with MrGrey, I'm from the Baby Boomer years and if a site asks to many questions I just back out and they can just stick it up their BUTT. I don't want the world to know about me. If I had to put my name, age or address here I would be gone too.
