oops, didn't get a notification for this...
The series 5 was well balanced, bit tired being an old mazda, and had some usual old-car problems (nothing major, but just annoying). Thirsty, but unique (and loud ) Usual rotary traits; non-existant torque below 3000, engine vibration gets smoother the higher you rev it. Really was a wonderful car to drive.
MR2 was really fun to drive too, both in turbo and non-turbo form (I test drove my friends non-turbo to compare with mine). Turns very well, rear traction is fantastic, front is a bit prone to understeer (had a couple hair moments on the touge). Power and response were really good. Responded quite well to minor modifications, like intake/exhaust and increase in boost pressure (had to do more in my silvia to make that kind of power). When you turn, the pivot point feels like it turns where you are sitting, kindof weird but wonderful feeling.
If I sell my silvia soon, I will be looking to replace it with a series 8 FD, or a very clean series 5 again (if they exist anymore).

Yesss, they are! I bought them for my AW11 and now they're currently on my MX5 :]. I think I bought them off some guy that had a Civic? [could be wrong though]
Edit: are these XR4Z's actually 2 piece? I've been trying to find info on them but there's not many details around! And I've been a bit too lazy to take out all of the bolts to find out :/

I did all the refurb on them
The bolts in them are brand new, so they arent' coroded and should come undone easy. However, i pulled the first set of bolts out, and couldnt get the centre out. They are two piece, so the barrel is all one piece, with a centre that pops out. I could never manage to get the centre out of them sadly.
If you undid the bolts youmight be able to take it somewhere to get the centre carefully pressed out if they had the right tools.
Kinda sketchy though unless you are actually wanting to run bigger barrels on them.

Love these cars. I almost bought a German assembled one many years ago (Late 80's) but 1) $18k (In those days) was a little out of my reach [and I was saving for a house and didn't want to touch my deposit] and 2) I had no where to park it where it would have been safe, and 3) insurance would have been through the roof for a 20yo...warrior wrote:3. If you wanted an automatic that could slide, shoulda just bought an RB20E Laurel/ceffy. Cheap as. Go well with flatpeaks if you like wearing them too. Most of them come preinstalled with EDACOC and Monster stickers too.

1975 coupe. orininal 12a. was a beautiful car in superb condition. Had it for about 7 years sold about 4 years ago. The only problem with it was that it bought to much attention to its self. I had people knock on my window at lights, stop and come up the drive when I washed it and knock on the door late at night asking me if I wanted to sell it. I hardly took it out beacuse I was too worried about it.
1975, recaro front seats, new carpet, new full upholstery (tastefull) new head lining. painted engine, gearbox, diff, running gear (factory colour). 13inch modgies, poly bushes right through. Beautiful paint and panel with original chrome.
Sorry dont want to go on too much but she was perfect.
I miss her
