Timing issue

Post by Jockdall » Mon Oct 26, 2020 12:54 pm

Hi folks, do iv just replaced the head gasket on my 1800 98 mx5, now i cant get it to start.
Iv checked the timing 5 times, all good but when i put the plastic cover on and then the crank pulley ,the marks are way off the pointer.

Any ideas

It looks as if you have done everything correct with the timing.
The cams and crank are aligned correctly and the T on the plastic cover is lining up with the TDC notch on the pulley.
So the reason it isn't starting must be elsewhere.
Have you checked that it has a spark when cranking and that it it getting fuel OK?
