MX-5 Engine Diagnostics

Post by Ian Williams » Sat Dec 17, 2005 12:11 am

Hi there,
We have just purchased a 2000 model MX-5 and would like to carry out some
diagnostics. I read the excellent article on the Club website, however when I
opened the "Diagnostics Connector" there was no diagram of the terminal
identification. I would very much appreciate it if someone could send me the
pin diagram of this connector (so that I can identify the TEN, GND, B+ and FEN
terminals.)
Thanks in anticipation,
Ian Williams,

Ian, this should help. Go to HTTP://www.miata.net/garage/ignition.html
The Miata.net garage is a wonderful mine of information, there are some
errors of course due to the LHD/RHD conversions but for the most part they
are right.

Thanks very much Kevin,
I really appreciate your advice, that site gave me the pin details plus a
whole lot more, you are quite right, a real mine of information! With the
help of a local mechanic here we found the coil pack has had it, only
running on two cylinders (actually quite surprising how good it was) so have
ordered a new one and will fit it next week. But I'm still keen to look at
the diagnostics and your advice makes that possible.
Thanks again,
Ian Williams
