Loch Stewart Ram-Air Box

Post by R LTD » Sat Dec 03, 2005 6:26 pm

I'm looking at fitting a air ram-box of which there are serval on the market.
One that has been recommended is the model produced by Loch Stewart in
Brisbane.
The Power increase and curve with all mods looks impressive.
Have any club members fitted the Stewart system, how have they found it and
did it live up to expectations.
Secondly, I'm considering running 98 octane fuel. I recall, but can't locate,
a discussion on this and I believe one needs to adjust the timing. Advice on
this would be appreciated.

Loch Stewart Ram-Air Box

Unfortunately Loch Stewart passed away on the 18th of November.

Regretably, I have to inform MX-5 Club of Queensland members that Loch
Stewart has passed away (or, as I'm sure he would rather say, 'just crossed
over life's Finish Line!').

Whilst many of the Club members and MX-5 owners Australia-wide recognise the
name, and mainly associate it with the many performance enhancing products
that he developed for MX-5's (and many other cars), there are many members
and ex-members of the Club who recognise him as a friend and one who was
heavily involved with the early development of the Queensland Club in the
early 1990's.

Loch was the first 'Rag Top Review' editor (November 1990), was
Vice-President in 1993 and 1994 and further served on Committee from 1995
through to 1999. He attended Natmeets in Adelaide 1994, Canberra 1996 and
Brisbane 1999.

Loch and his wife Cleone were made Life Members of the Queensland Club in
recognition of the service they provided to the Club over a decade.

Loch's funeral will be held at the Uniting Church, Station Road, Indooripily
at 2.00pm on Thursday, 24 November. Friends are invited to a 'wake' at the
Pig and Whistle in Indooripily after the service. Full details will be
published in the 'Courier Mail' on Tuesday, 22 November.

Regards,

Peter Simpson (Ex Queensland MX-5 Club President)

I don't know if his products will still be available.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Thats very sad news. I bought one of his original fibreglass boxes,
along with an exhaust many years ago and he was a very helpful chap,
faxing me page after page of info. The products worked very well and I
cant recommend them enough.
