Retro fit ABS to 5?

Post by Dez Cross » Sat Nov 12, 2005 1:44 am

Had my brakes lock up tonight under injudicious conditions & set me thinking
about going about installing the equipment into my '94 NA 1800. Any advice
from the collective wisdom out there? Will it just involve obtaining the
'block with the plumbing under the bonnet and the computer" or will the brake
calipers have to be changed as well? Can it be done on a budget, ok, cheap.
What are your thoughts on the pros & cons of such a move?

Retro fit ABS to 5?

Hi Dez, a lot more involved than just the block under the bonnet. Each wheel
has to have the required sensors and sending units, different axles etc, I
would imagine it would be a lot chaeper just to find an MX5 with it already
fitted.

Thanks Nigel,
Afraid to say you're right again. Someone gave me the link to Miata.net garage
section, detailing an individuals experience doing it. Acheived the aim but
took several long days of frustration to do so. The recommendation was, as you
suggest, get a 5 with it fitted.
