One wheel drive sucks

Post by Charles Lynch » Thu Jan 27, 2000 10:37 am

Does anyone know how much a Limited Slip Diff costs here?

I got stuck in the mud for over an hour last night after I parked the car
between the house and the retaining wall.
It was a real nightmare getting it out again. I had good grip on one side,
so an LSD might have allowed me to get out.

Cheers

I would try and hunt down a second hand one from a import from a mazda
wreckers - I don't think that the MX5 one is the only one that would fit in
the housing - but I could be wrong.

I'm guessing about $1400 NZ for a new one, possibly $500 to $900 for a
second hand one from a wrecker if you can find one (doubtful) - depending on
if they know what it is worth.

A friend bought one a while ago (Mugen Brand for his FWD Corolla) for $1000
but price would have increased since then. Another brand (English) is Quafe
(SP?) and there is a guy in West Auckland that imports and fits them I
believe - I will find the contact details.

A Mazdaspeed LSD for a 1.6 will run $1700+ freight from the US.

PS: Anyway I don't think that Morvin will buy the "I have to have an LSD
because I couldn't drive the car out of a bit of mud" excuse... :)

PPS: a list tip - hit reply to send the response back to the list. hit
"reply all" to send to the list and the person.
