Just a quick note , there's only one government , it was , they were .
If the government was concerned , not if the government were concerned.
You could also use is , but not were.
Well Matt old chap, speaking as a pom with a classical education, you're
kinda wrong and he's kinda right. Your "theoretical" grammar is perfect but
your idiomatic English as she is spoke and writ by the great'ngood of the
Home Counties ain't. Darryl wins.

Dunno what this has to do with jellybeans. Didn't get to drive mine today 8^(
