Now that youall have installed your shocks can you tell me if there is any
significance in the instruction sheet where it tells you to compress and turn
the body to adjust stiffness? Is it a redundant instruction for our type as I
suspect? (I hope as I've fiddled with one)

you are quite correct it is a redundant instruction for an MX5, the type you mention
is an earlier type which you can still buy, there are two holes in the top to push
out the bumpstop rubber, you then close the damper to adjust, then you replace the
bumpstop rubber, a pain to have to remove to adjust, the MX5 type adjust nicely from
the top.
