Hood covers

Post by kotuku.books » Mon Mar 05, 2001 7:03 pm

Greetings from a cloudy Mid Canterbury
Having just purchased a '91 V-spec I am looking for a tan hood cover in top
condition. I have been quoted $280 by Canterbury Mazda for a locally made one
and would like to know if there is another source, or if anyone has a
second-hand one for sale.
Regards, Paul R.

$280 is reasonable if the cover fits. The going rate for a used but
mint condition cover seems to be $200 - at least that is what I paid.
They are not so easy to find even in basic black..
New ones are very expensive from Mazda and even from Robbins.
The thing to check is whether the plastic moulding that attaches around
the rain rail fits securely. Good luck.

There are a few suppliers of aftermarket ones on the internet - the Robbins
brand apparently fit more snugly than the factory ones. I don't think
shipping would be too much on this item.

Factory one from the US is around US$250 and Robbins is $200. If you can
get one locally made for $280, I say go for it (make sure it fits
perfectly!) - unless there is anyone around here who uses a roll bar and
doesn't bother with the boot anymore...

(PS I've been away for 2 weeks - so if anyone is expecting any email from
me, I'm up to about email number 10 of 2648...)
