To those who have fitted racing seats in their MX-5s.
Which seats did you use and why. Also did you have any problems/issues
fitting the aftermarket seats?
I have just had a roll bar fitted. Due to my requirement for it to fit
under a hardtop and to get the necessary height the bar has to sit forward
where it has reduced the travel of the seats. I am contemplating fitting a
(hopefully) slimmer racing seat that will give more leg room. However,
there is very little spare room width wise in the MX-5 and I am wondering if
something like a Momo T-Frame will fit.
Clive.

I believe only a small number of aftermarket seats will fit in an MX5 due to
the small seat width.
Can't help with models/brands tho sorry.

Clive I note that in the latest NZ Classic Car mag there is an advert by
Autosport Upholstery in Auckland that may be of interest. They are
advertising "Sprint Extreme" seats weighing only 4.1 kg. Their ad suggests
they are prepared to do anything from large volume to one offs.
The web address is www.autosportseats.co.nz . Maybe worth a look. Their
email is autosportseats@xtra.co.nz
Cheers

Clive,
Keep me posted on this... also if you look at www.miataforum.net you will
find quite a bit of discussion on this. Not many options on what will do
what you want by all accounts.

If you like the AutoSport Seats, give me a call and I will do good prices on
pairs of seats.
The Autosport seats are a good choice as you can have them trimmed to suit
your requirements and if its not too fancy (ie, colour changes, inserts etc)
it won't cost much, if any extra.

Clive-
have a chat to Andy at Race FX about your seat - he deals with customers with seats worth hundreds of dollars who want
them replaced with $300 Momo seats "for the look" ... his main point was a racing seat is fine if your racing, but not
for long trips. I saw your rollbar being installed, but can't recall if the top of your seat was hitting the top of the
bar when moving back, or if it was the side that was making contact. If it was the top, I'd talk to Upholstery Al and
get the top reshaped to fit underneath.
