I have just found that the fan (right hand one) stays on even when the engine
has cooled down - any ideas to rectify the problem? Does anyone know where the
sensor is placed or what it uses for a sensor?

The right hand fan should normally be connected so that it comes on when the
Air Conditioning is on. Regardless of engine temp.

Yup I know exactly what the problem is as I had the same one, it even goes when the car is turned off ? and it drains your battery ?

What you need to do is locate the relay that goes to the fan and replace it, they tend to get water in them and it slowly rots it until the wire breaks and BINGO batflattery !!
