car theft

Post by lou Girardin » Mon Aug 12, 2002 1:54 pm

A couple of years ago there was a spate of thefts of the Momo steering wheels
around Remuera/ Newmarket area.
I've had an alarm with a microwave sensor for 6 years now (not a Mongoose, but
I wasn't working here then) I wouldn't be without one now. Never had the car
attacked in that time.
MX5's aren't classed as high risk, but in Auck all cars are vulnerable.

thanks Lou. I've added the Mongoose microwave sensor
already, but insurance is insisting on a 'NZI approved
immobiliser'.

Is it possible to upgrade my older Mongoose (M1200 or
1600 i think) brain to a newer one ? If you're doing
deals for club members I'll go all out and get
something OTT :)

Hi Jeff,
Can't upgrade older models, unfortunately. Our MX40 or MX40A are approved. If
they'll let you wait, our new M60 models are going through certification at
present.
Phone me on 021 443 3128 for pricing.

I have a Mazda MX5 Security System Base Model, Model Number Mzda-AL-3001
installed in my MX5,could you please tell me if it is approved.
NZI are not sure but no problems with AA Insurance.
Thanks

It's not approved in the sense of meeting any of the Aust/NZ standards. Most
insurance co's accept factory immobiliser systems except NZI in some cases.
AA, strangely enough, will accept almost anything if it is a reputable brand
and professionally installed.
