Poor service standards at Mazda Dealers

Post by Mathew » Thu Jul 04, 2002 8:41 am

The Hamilton outfit is not much better. Though to be fair, its been about two years since I've been in there as thats when I finally dicided I'd had enough of the high prices and poor service. They may have drastically improved (some of the pricing has) but somehow I doubt it. Brendon McInnarney may be a good person at Mazda to speak to about service problems. If he's not in a position to do anything about it he probably knows who is. He was the chap from mazda who was posting info on revised parts pricing (like the oil filters) on the list a while back. I sent him a query on my car and its japanese origins and he was very helpful. He hasn't posted anything for quite a while - maybe he's left as well.

Well this is very timely for me as I was about to book my '89 MX into JA
Ford to get the cam belt changed! Can anyone recommend a good place to go?

Try Glynn at City Garage 438 Queen St, Auckland City phone 3795649. This guy
does all the mechanical work on mine & the service is waaaay better than what I
discovered from Mazda dealers. Mention you're with the club - he may give a
discount.

Graeme

I can recommend Glynn at City Garage too. Very impressed with standard of
service and at a reasonable cost.

My (late) '89 was doen last August at pitlane, Onehunga for $1230. That included Belts,Filters,Brake system flushed and shoes and discs replaced/machined, spark plugs. Bushes checked and re-aligned, coolant drained and replaced, clutch adjusted. Parts - $706.21; labour - #388; Government superannuation token, $136.77. ( He forgot to replace the thermostat so I did that)

I use Dave Knott at Pitlane Automotive all the time. He is very conscientious.
He is not cut price. He has done most of the modification work on my car and
fixed the botch ups done by others (Type Power- New Lynn in particular). My car
is currently with him undergoing internal engine mods and tuning and LVV
certification.
I recommend him to you.

Try Nissan on Kent Terrace, ask for Peter Liew, tell him I gave you his
name. He's a tech who cares, and has worked for Mazda in the past.
