Could someone give me the correct tyre pressures to go by - they must be on
the website somewhere I know but I wasn't able to find them
Thanks

Tyre pressures

At the risk of being a little controversial...

The low pressures recommended on the sticker and in the handbook are for the
original lightweight Bridgestone tyres.
And for vehicles used on smooth straight roads at constant speeds.

For New Zealand conditions there is a great deal to be gained in stability
and handling as well as longevity in running no lower than 30 psi.
I suspect most of the advanced driving schools would go as far as to say
that 30 is a minimum.
The type of tyre and width of wheel are also of great influence on the
pressure required.
For example a soft sidewall tyre such as a Firestone or Dunlop daytona will
benefit immensely from a higher pressure.
from experience 185/60/14 Dunlop W10 is best at 30 to 32 all round
2 sets used on the car)
205/45/16 Dunlop W10 is best at 30 psi all
round
205/45/16 Kumho Ecsta 712 are best at 30 psi
all round
I once was a fanatic and on a Mazda Cosmo used 4 sets of 205/60/14
Bridgestone RE71's. I measured each tyre in three places around and in three
places across every week and adjusted pressures to compensate for wear and
driveability.
Over that period I built up quite a knowledge of which pressure suited the
road conditions and time of year.
I still measure the tread depth and changes in pressure that indicate
weather the tyre is reaching its "optimum" temperature

Reading this I think I might still be a fanatic... no I'm cured I'm sure.

I'll just go and measure one last time ...then I'll stop. Really I will..

Cheers

Mine has a dinky little Japanese/English language sticker on the door under the latch saying just that. 26psi Front and rear but with the added line "Under all conditions"

Tyre Pressures

Yeah, the factory recommends 26psi... and they dont like people
complaining about the "hard" ride in a sports car...

Tyre pressure is ALWAYS a compromise... there is no correct answer.

26 psi is good for a cushy ride, but it aint all that good for carving
through corners...

Give 30 psi a try, or even god-forbid 35... and see which you
prefer...

Some people will end up liking 26 best, and some will end up liking
35... but I'd suggest most people will like somewhere between 32 and
28 as a good compromise between the handling crispness offered by a
stiffer side-wall and the cushy ride offered by a softer setting.

It also depends to some extent on the tires you have fitted to your
car, some are naturally softer or harder riding and handling, and need
their pressure adjusted accordingly...

So, try a few different settings and see what you like...

Fletch.

question... what octane fuel is recommended for the engine (1.6)?
