The time has come to reward my car with a new rear window. Particularly so
with the South Island expedition at Easter on the near horizon - although I
don't expect to have the top up in glorious Central Otago. But who knows
what the weather will be like between Taupo and Alexandra - and the West
Coast on the way back..
So, my questions are: -
1 Should I take the car down to the local upholsterer in Taupo (I think
there is only one in this town) and let him have a shot at it, or should I
go go to an "expert" ? Presumably someone in Hamilton would be the closest.
Can any of you Hamiltonians recommend anyone?
2 How much should a plastic window replacement cost?
3 Glass instead of plastic - I seem recollect reading various comments in
the list that it is possible to fit glass windows to an M1 soft top. Has
anyone done this in NZ and if so, how did it work out?
I know there has been a lot of traffic in the list about rear window
replacement and I apologise if this message is re-visiting a well worn
topic. I had every intention of using the search facility to scan the
archives but it doesn't seem to be working at the moment. Or if it is, I am
not clever enough to use it.

Rear Window Replacement
Jason at Waikato Motor Trimmers (07) 8498186 is very good and has done a lot of MX5Hi from hamilton Murray,
work. Hes not there today so cant get a price for you but could check tomorrow. Ross
at MX5 Mart may have a rear window ready to fit. If you want to come through to hamilton
I would be more than happy to help you change over the window, about an hours work
as you have to take the roof right out.
