I am invovled in the running of Levels Raceway Timaru which is owned by the
South canterbury Car club Inc. Here are some pointers to go club racing.
1.. You must be a member of a MotorSport NZ affiliated Club.
2.. You must hold a National Grade Competition licence, a fairly simple
test, written and oral.
3.. You must have MSNZ approved helmet and overalls.
4.. Your car must be safety wise up to wof standard and have an MSNZ
approved fire extuingisher, roll cage and seat belts.
5.. Along with this to drive the car on the road with these mods you will
need a MSNZ authority card.
All the information you require can be found at www.motorsport.org.nz Look in
the motorsport manual app two.
If you have any problems contact a MSNZ affl. club in your area.
Club racing is a lot of fun you are normally racing against cars in your time
bracket and skill level so you are not thrown in the deep end amongst the big
boys with their rocket ships.
There is a lower level with events all being on the individual level i.e.
motorkanas, sprints etc. The licence and safety requirements are not as high.
See manual app 5.
There is one thing that you should keep in mind if you want to go motor
racing:
IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO BEND IT - YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO RACE IT
Strange thing happen in motor racing.
