wave!

Post by Phil McArthur » Mon Feb 25, 2002 4:08 pm

I'm keen to do the diode mod to enable me to do the 'miata wave' more easily,
but meantime have to rely on a twist of the wrist for a quick headlight wave
and hello. Trouble is I don't often get a wave back...presumably I've not
chanced upon too many club members...Guess I'll just keep waving and hope it
catches on!

Really keen to find out EXACLT what the law says on this.
Anyone know where we can find out once and for all?

yea - what he said. People don't respond to a headlight flash well - they
think there is a cop ahead looking for your front number plate... just wave
excitedly and try not to let go with both hands whilest going around
corners. ;)

hang in there people! there's nothing more satisfying than doing the wave and getting one back, especially if you're off
the beaten track...

I hope I don't offend anyone here, but I have found that usually those who
DONT wave, are young males. Now when I say young I mean under 25, so c'mon
everyone - practice that wave. The likes of me just love it.
By the way I sat outside a cafe / bar today (near to roadside) and gave 2
spotted forms to MX's that passed by slowly (there was a crossing there and
they had to slow down!!)

Hi Bill

Think you will find your "flash set up" is also illegal. If a camera
can't see it , you might need 2 hundy as well.

Two things. Firstly the correct size plates don't look that bad. Some
people will find them better looking than say stickers on the front of
the car . Secondly, and it's a question, has anyone ever had problems
like over-heating because the air flow has been restricted by a plate
???. Does a small plate help the performance ???.

cheers

Sorry CUTIE , you sound like an ageist. Maybe young men are too busy
concentrating on the 10 to 2 position..

those who do share the wave, you really do get a happy feeling. the 1 wave out
of every 5 is worth it!

I keep seeing MX5s on the roads around Wellington but they all have the top
up and can't wave back even if they wanted to. Even on sunny days. Can't
understand it. Why buy a 5? I even saw one with its hard top on last week
:(

I guess this is where a lot of Wellington jokes get unleashed from north of
the Bombay Hills...

I have the same problem too - little or no response - but I'll keep at it
because I know what a cool feeling I got when having owned my car for TEN
minutes (really - I'm not joking), driving home to Auckland along state
highway 1 just out of Hamilton, (top down, extremely large grin on my face),
I got a headlight wave. I was so chuffed. My car was so new to me that by
the time I figured out how to return it, the other car was long gone!!!

Cheers

If you disconnect one set of wires in the back of the light unit you can get a
single light wink!!!
