Microwave alarm sensors (was: Re: More soft-top slashers)

BTW when they installed mine I discovered that the radar runs
constantly while you are driving the vehicle.
poor install. the ground should be connected to the output of the alarm
that is only grounded when the alarm is active. Normally this output is
used also for the engine disabling relay(s) etc. All additional powered
sensors (active shock, glass break etc) should be installed like this.

The output usually has an on delay of 5 - 10 secs, which helps also to allow
time for the car & bits inside (fuel etc) to settle once you have stopped
and switched on the alarm before turning on sensors.

re: microwave sensitivity - my self installed unit works well. Yes there
are minor blind spots, but there would be no way you could get into the seat
without it going off - or even put a hand around the stereo.

Lou Girardin is a car alarm dude, and is on this list somewhere...
www.caralarm.co.nz . You could pop in and see him in glenfield - I'm sure he
could tune it better. Lou? (unless he did the first install?!?! - I hope
not!!!)
