For a standard 1.6 or 1.8 they are plenty wide enough and the recommended offset for an NA is 45mm so that is not really that bad either.

Apart from that if you put too much wheel and tyre on a 5 you increase the unsprung weight which can upset the handling and the ride. You really need the lightest wheel/tyre combo you can get.
TG Sports, classic roadster - modern technology. NA1800, 99 head, 11:1 +2mm Wiseco pistons, Link LEM, Alloy f/wheel, JR headers.

I think a 14X6 ET20 would be perfect, I would like a set of those or 6.5 ET14.5.

Those wheels are fine but if your going to buy different wheels why buy in the same size or in this case ones that narrow the track by 2mm?

There's no such thing as a "recommended" offset until you're getting to the point of extreme enough width and low enough offset to substantially increase wear to CV joints and the like.

+47 offset on a 6.5" wide wheel will be pretty much factory fitment in the guards, as far as outer position goes. Ugly as.

EDIT: Teehee

I still can't see the attraction... The only ones I like are the RPF1s or the 6ULs in bronze. Eye of the beholder right?

Those have been done 65797646896 times. As have Wats. Sure they're a good combo, but its never gonna blow minds like the wheels posted above would.

I think I prefer more traditional/subtle/practical view of improving performance (or comfort at times) I guess. 65797646896 people can't be wrong right

So if you do get the super wide wheels, does that make tyres expensive due to the unique width?

Nope, most opt for cheaper sizes that dont fit properly (stretched), mainly because the angled sidewalls allow the suspension to be dropped to the point where the tyres touch the arches and there is no travel left. After that is complete you can stick stickers on the car and/or proclaim things like Hellaflush, poke, slammed, edaboc, flatpeak, etc.

Just kidding you guys 8)
