That was my thought. The oil seems to be only on the top. It looks like too much to be from under that yellow insulation tape..... Im feelin the pain for you.

The cap is in perfect condition and was tight, thought the same thing. There was ALOT of oil above the intake manifold and upon further inspection either there's a hole in the block or a frost plug missing... Will update tomorrow....

loose oil filter or broken oil pressure sender will fire oil out too and they are under the inlet manifold

I'm looking forward to the rematch with Moogs s2000, although considering in the first set of drags one of the issue was he kept missing 3rd due to engine torsion I would have considered replacing the engine mounts as well..

fingers crossed for the mx5 in the next vid :)

I'm going to assume the 10psi he's running is on factory internals (I haven't seen any other videos) - What's a safe amount of boost for stock guts?

Also, unrelated: How do I know if I have an LSD? Will it be marked on the diff anywhere?

I finally got to drive my car with a torsen for the first time in weeks after driving on a VLSD... it makes such a difference!

We've found the factory vlsd is just as fast as a plate diff in a mx5 cup car.

I've got a free rear left mudflap in average condition to a good home. Silver in colour, some scratchng but could easily be fixed. CBF doing anything with it. Going in the bin at 5pm today unless someone claims it.

Pickup from Pakuranga. Would ship but CBF.

Ok, I would take it, except I'm already... Mostly out of town for the weekend. Send me a PM and I'll tell you which letterbox to dump it in, if you have a spare 3 mins to walk up the road. :D

That doesn't surprise me really. Do many people run an open diff in the MX5 cup? It seems like on stock power, with a well tuned suspension setup it would be competitive.

I thought the rule was something akin to "Don't bother with an LSD until you crack the 200hp mark"? :?

No experience at all with why/why not, aside from having both my tomcat (lsd) and 4AGE carib (open diff) stuck on grass at different points in time. Just going by what I've read on die intertuben.

All have lsds as far as I'm aware, if the cars setup right you can carry enough corner speed to negate wheel spin. The plate lsd make it near impossible to brake very late as your turning into the apex which is where you need to be to dive under faster cars.
