Soft top tension cables - part no. ?

Post by GEEMCB » Tue Sep 05, 2006 8:57 pm

Hi, all,

In preparation for the impending soft top replacement, I read that occassionally the tension cables that run over the windows (inside the top) need replacement.

Tried to get a price from my local dealer today but they couldn't find them on the parts drawing. Neither can I, though the screen shot they emailed through may be missing the relevant bit.

Anyone know the part number or an indicative price ?

Regards,
Greg

I have the parts drawings and can't find then either, but I got my one off Ross. Was only about $10.00 I think.

Soft top tension cables - part no. ?

Post by skams » Fri Sep 08, 2006 5:42 pm

Hi Greg,
If I remember rightly, when I replaced my soft top recently, it came with new cables already in place, however would have to check my old top which I still have packed away in the garage roof to see if the old cables are still with it as I would have kept them with it if new ones were supplied with the new top.
Cheers Simon

Soft top tension cables - part no. ?

My bottom of the range (i.e. cheap) Robbins top did not come with
replacement tension cables and springs. I reused the originals and the top
fitted perfectly. No wrinkles and good sealing. This on a 1992 NA with over
200,00km on it. How would you know if the cables require replacement apart
from obvious wear? No sign of any wear on my ones.
Grant.
