My rear end is funny.

Post by warrior » Mon Nov 17, 2014 5:28 pm

One of my cars has a strange viabration when taking off in first gear in the rear. I replaced the engine mounts as I thought it may have been that but it wasn't.

The car feels to shudder when taking off but only in first. It also brakes traction very easily in the rear when starting off in first and worse when turning (more chirping the breaking traction if that makes any sence) .

Any ideas?

Diff mounts? I think my car used to be similar when I had two different rear half shafts on the car which pushed the diff out of alignment. Could the clutch cause it?

Axle tramp, mines doing it even after replacing every bush in the car, i have no idea what it could be. On mine the gearstick jumps around because of it too

When you say it only happens in first, does that mean you've tried taking off in second and it doesn't happen? (if so that discounts things like a bent propshaft)

possibly one of the inner CV on its way out?

universal on the drive shaft?

Worn bushes?

alignment?

If youre real low, check you haven't worn/broken the heads off the PPF bolts at the diff

If all else fails, try one of these. Energy or Superpro diff mount bushes also help.
