rear windscreen replacement

Post by heatherg3713 » Sun Aug 17, 2014 12:04 am

Hi all.

I am looking at buying a 91NA roadster. At present it needs a new rear plastic windscreen for the soft top.

What kind of price am I looking at to get that done and where is the best place in chch to go?

Should I stick with the plastic or go glass? Will I need to replace the whole soft top?

Any help and advice would be most appreciated!!!

Thanks!

it should be possible to just replace the plastic in the rear window - I've had this done before, and its a lot less than a whole new top.

If the hood is good, its a simple job to have a upholsterer sew in a new plastic window.
You can get a nb glass window and fit it into the early hood and modify the frame but its a lot of work for not much gain.
Id stick with plastic. Fold it when you put the roof down and It will last well.

the problem is that if the window is stuffed.....the whole top is not far behind it. look VERY carefully at the creases above the window tops and also just at the lower "B" pillar part of the top. if theres ANY signs of cracking in those areas, the top only has 12 months in it max
