Winter Wine Deez
Still amping from today so thought I would chuck up a tentative Winter Run. Quite a few corners , bends and sweepers and some straights for the throttle pushers.
Meet at BP Bombay. Wind down the Bombay to Pokeno and turn right and head out to Tuakau. Cross over The Waikato River on the old concrete bridge and turn left and head towards Pukekawa and Mercer. Turn right at Mercer onto SH1 and head south to the old Meremere Power Station. Turn left into Island Block Road. Head inland and then turn left into Coalfields Rd. Follow this all the way back to SH which leads to SH2 /SH25 intersection. Turn left and come back to Maramarua Golf Course. Hook over to the intersection of Rawiri Rd/Mangatawhiri Rd. Travel easbound on Mangatangi Rd through to Kaiaua Rd. Follow this down to Kaiaua Township..... Stop for a regroup and refreshments.... Proceed up coastline through Kawakawa Bay to Clevedon.....
The route from here has 2 options in my mind.... The first is to accomodate Waikato Dwellers.....
1;)Leave Clevedon and turn left and cut back through to Hunua. Follow road up through Ararimu. 2 nice looonnngggg straights along here and then meet up with Paparata Rd. Follow this back along the ridge line and come back out at BP Bombay.
2;)turn right at Clevedon and follow the river up to Duders Beach. Wind along the coast here passing through Maraetai, Beachlands and then Whitford.
From Whitford there are several options also..... Cut back over to Clevedon via Twighlight Rd and Waikato Crew can then take the Hunua route as above or instaed of turning onto Paparata Rd they can go left onto Paparimu Rd as we did this morning and come out again at Mangatawhiri.
The other route from Whitford is to come back to Manukau via Sandstone either through Botany Junction or over the extended Redoubt Rd and come out beside Rainbows End. From here people can go their own way via the motorway system.
It all depends on how long we want to drive for.... Check out your maps, have a think, check the diary and lets get some dates out there for consideration.
Lets make a super long snaking convoy of enthusiasts!!!

Dates are open for suggestion. He who posts first gets to choose a date that suits them.... I will cancel other events to participate in Fun Like This so Im not fussed.... If you post a date first then it will be a day that suits you.
Once we have some interest going and some dates we can put it to the members as to what is most suitable.
You have read the Feedback and can see it is a real blast so get your diary out and throw some dates about.

Once we have some dates down we can put it to the members who are keen and decide on the date that best suits the majority.

Excellent point FooesBoy.... How about Sunday 22 June? This is the day after The Shortest Day so represents the oncoming Summer. Days will be getting longer from then on in ( Bring A Beanie Though).fooesboy wrote:I'm in for sure!
How about making it a Sunday this time? Might mean that more people who would normally be working a Saturday could join in? I for 1 am "supposed to" be available every Saturday for work....

I am keen if I am not working but cannot commit as I generally have 24 hours notice of work (it all comes down to when the freighters come in and are ready to be loaded)
If I am free then count me in, if I am working then take plenty of pics please!
If any one is in 2 minds about this, don't hesitate, the last one was a lot of fun with some really nice people and great roads!

Anyone going to the cruise that has a spare seat please indicate on here so that people with broken down cars may be able to ride as a passenger/navigator/ conversation partaker. It may lead to a new found friendship.
Those that are keen on attending also please indicate how long you are happy to go for. We can organise either a short half day run or one which is a bit longer like the other week. I think it was good to have refreshment stops along the way and a general chit chat amongst ourselves.
Im keen to incorporate SH22 but aware that it is a bit further out from Auckland but closer to some of the Waikato dwellers.
Dont be shy. Throw your thoughts and ideas up here for all to see and we can arrange something that suits the majority. Its always hard to please everyone at the same time so please dont be offended if your preference is not the final confirmed.

With a planned route we could get you to position for some awesome staged shots Siren. Another benefit of stopping for refreshments so everyone stays close.... I got a feeling that this will be another superb cruise!!!siren676 wrote:Ill have a spare seat or 3.5 in the mazda glanza 5.
Can bring my camera for pics at meeting points or for rolling shots.
