http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-ca ... 696345.htm ?

For an extra $750 you get a hardtop and some sweet wheels.
More km's though.

Not the best time to buy an mx5, rolling into summer everyone loads them onto tardme and hikes up the price.

You are going to want a Hardtop eventually.... Funds will dictate how you roll. This dearer car has a nicer interior and exterior looks nicer also. They are similar distances to travel to. Do a round loop and check them out in one day. Then buy the better on your way back home....personally I would not be put off by higher Km. plenty of owners here have higher km. i had 2 cars with over 240 k and they both get along well.... The more you look the more confused you will get. Just jump on one and start cruising, pampering and MODIFYING!!!

I just don't have that much. Wheels can come later; 150kms is fine.

I figure I'm going to put the thing under a cover of sorts [being the first car in a long while I'll have had that isn't white] to preserve the paint.

I noticed the front lip after I bought it. Pretty happy with myself now. I want to go look at it but it's raining and it's under a cover. :(

Colour preference:
BRG/black
silver/midnight blue
white
red/smurf blue/yellow

The black one on here went pretty quick, the BRG's are too rich for me, so... Yeah! Silverstone metallic it is. 8)

14 degree timing bump coming shortly.

silver cars

Post by 2old4this » Mon Dec 30, 2013 1:33 pm

Congratulations 4a-ge it's a nice looking car. They look good in silver but I agree with u that they dissapear on shitty overcast days. I used 2 jamb gears 4 a crust - 34 wheels 18 gears 15 litres Turboed - A silver Falcon came 2wards me on a shitty day and I saw it coming 4 miles because it had a very thin fluorescent yellow pinstripe running the width of the front bumper - about .125 inch thick. Amazing what it did 4 visablity. Food 4 thought. :-)

Yeah, if I have trouble seeing other silver cars, my lights go on. Didn't stop a kid on a scooter running out in front of me today though, idiot.
One of my old mates is a truckie too. Doesn't drive a 5, though he does have a silver car... Hmm.

I think the yellow would look ridiculous, but I like fog lights, so I'll look into a set of those when I'm not shirt-on-my-back broke.

Edit: weird words because I have my afternoon eyes on

Just one thing to note, due to the reputation as a "hairdressers car", some of your friends may give you stick about driving a convertible.....

Easiest solution to that is to give them a ride in it, they will quickly change their tune

Welcome to the roadster lifestyle :)

Turned up at my other old mates house last night,
"Can I get a haircut while you're here?" Cheeky fecker.

I bought this thing for me, not for anyone else. Even the mrs thinks it's "gay and smells weird".

(Previous owner had a glade air thingy in it)

I'm happy with it. At least, until it runs outta gas, cuz I'm currently unemployed. :?

Looking sweet james ;) don't listen about the hard top, I'm onto my fourth mx5 and I've never bothered with one yet. Even in the winter I want to drop the top, sometimes while I'm sat at the lights. If it rains, I can put it up with one hand at the next set of lights lol.

Get some daylight running LED's and fit them where the fogs would be.

if your an experienced mx5er you can raise and lower the top while moving. ;) haha. and remember you only get wet if you drop below about 80kmh. faster than that and the rain just flies overhead.

Hey that's kinda cool. Welp got my first puncture in it yesterday, so I'm rollin' on a space saver until tyre places open again. Not ideal in any imaginable way but it could be a whole lot worse.

At least you're close by if you get desperate. I'm hoping to do my engine swap this month if you want to swing by. Will let you know. Looks tidy in silver

It's probably easier, just mark where the driveshaft lines up to the universals and it should all be ok. Mind doing the 14 degree timing bump and loctiting my crank pulley bolt while we're at it?

Also,

Had that issue once with my Carib.
At my wits end, I remembered I had undone the lead from the dizzy to the [coil?].
Plugged that back in and it went. +10 dumb points that day.

If it ain't wobbling, and it's short nose, don't touch it.

As for the timing bump, don't have a timing light and never bothered with mine. I missed the low end around town. As for new engine - it will end up turbo... and maybe sooner than I thought :O
