I queried my insurance provider and they said that premiums would go up because having a roll bar indicates more risky driving. So do insurance companies differentiate between a roll bar and a style bar? Style bars were offered as an option on the new cars, I bet the premiums don't go up because a STYLE bar is fitted.
More than likely if you gave them a price of the modification they will increase your sum insured meaning the premium goes up. Or they may take a % loading on there depending on the modification threshold. Most insurer's wouldn't know the difference between a style bar and roll bar

its all good ha ha

probably, as your ride becomes safer for its occupants premiums rise... because doesn't adding cages & modifying seating, belts & so on make a car more costly to insure?

so driving a car with airbags and ABS and stability control puts your premiums up because they promote riskier driving too??

The people who make the decisions are, not the organisations as a whole.

The police just do as they are told, and make decisions based on the extent of their training. They have to put up with a lot of shit other than just pulling us over because our cars are too low or too loud etc.

I wonder if an unmodified Arial atom would cost less to insure than say a v8 mx5... The modifications surely represent riskier driving than the go kart right?

I was pulled over three times over the weekend.

Zero tickets.

Brilliant use of tax payer money IMO.

Modified car - better tax him!

Oh, we can't find anything to get him on.

Except his legal seats.

I'll waste his time instead.

I dunno... My car is more modified and yet I never get pulled over unless I'm overtaking another vehicle in front of a cop. More subtle mods?
