charcoal canister removal

Post by warrior » Tue Oct 29, 2013 5:20 pm

I have seen on here a few guys have removed there charcoal canister, I am looking at installing a oil catch can and it would fit there well.

So how do I go about this? Is there anyone out there that can lead me through the process or give me a hand?

Something to do with emissions

Fact: Helps with emissions. It puts fuel vapours through the canister to lower them.

My opinion: Added weight

apart from a small weight decrease, are there any performance gains from not filtering the emissions?

it has nothing to do with emissions really.
it is a vent for your fuel tank. petrol emits vapours all the time especially when shaken around (try some petrol in a coke bottle AND SHAKE IT) it allows the vapours to vent somewhere, and a good place to vent them is the intake. removing the cannister will either: have fuel vapour venting into your engine bay. or have your fuel tank over pressured because its sealed up.
