NA Aftermarket Seat options?

Post by REDBEN » Wed Aug 08, 2012 9:32 pm

What aftermarket option are available for the NA MX5? Half the NZKW ones don't fit or they are made for tiny people... I'm quite tall and at the same time not the smallest bloke.. Any heads up would be great?

I'm also wondering the same thing REDBEN. Not buying NZKW's cos you get what you pay for. but looking at Racetechs. I think the RT1000's fit, but the one i've sat in was super narrow. more keen on the wider RT100 for street use....

Damn these small cars!

pfffft Brides are last weeks news. They're too hard to buy genuine ones and they're overpriced. Atleast nobody makes a copied Racetech!

and people generally buy them for wank factor as you can pick up an equally FIA approved Racetech for half the price!

Will give everyone a idea what what fits.
I,ve got a race seat in mine,Got it from Japan,Not sure of brand, but fit's nice in the car and i fit in it good,Medium height,80kg...ish

I should check it out further for branding, only thing in can see is a DLUCK sticker on it,Doesn't look factory to me.

I'm in the same boat dude my backs quite wide too, most seats are good for the little people but not big kiwi blokes.... and anything that does tend to fit us doesnt fit in the mx5.

I have put a Jamex seat in mine, fixed back, only $200 (well was, dunno if they have gone up) only just fits in.

There are two sizes, small and medium, surprisingly the small doesn't fit, as it has wider shoulder wings, so you have to get the medium. Then it is the joy of modifying the brackets to get the seat rails on.

I had to cut the top of the door trim to allow the door to close with my racetech 1000. the shoulder wings are just a bit too wide for an mx. I have a friend who removed the fabric and just shaved down the fibreglass then put the fabric back on. you cant even tell, and now it clears his door.

I bought a used set of Momo T-Club that are very comfortable. I did "adjust" the shoulder wing slightly on the exterior side to get the reclined position back further but they did fit fine prior.

Cardwells do a really nice Sparco that fits for about $675.00 from memory. I haven't bought them because I really want to try it in the car first and I am to chicken to ask them if i could try it in the car park....

I too would be interested in those or another set of MAZDASPEED Seats!!!

Well to get a set in would cost over a grand without mounts and generally in worse condition :)

Dont forget, these seats are made for Mazdaspeed by Bride, so they pretty much command Bride prices
