Hey guys, I'm a lurker and definitely not a poster but been thinking about this car in particular recently

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =599295542

It's a supercharged NA6C, anyone know it? If I were to go down from Auckland to view it, what should I look out for in particular on top of normal MX5 items?

Does anyone know a good mechanic I can get a per-purchase done on it in Tauranga?

Just waiting to sell my E39 540i ( http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =603886554 ) to buy a new car

Thanks

you'll have to battle it out with another forum member for that one. :) it looks ok for the money. it has a fair bit of aftermarket gear on it. you couldnt build one like that for the money. from a cursery look it seems to be an "honest" car. unfortunatly i am in tauranga but just dont have the time to check it out for anyone, sorry

Going out for a few laps on the track = broken GTR. Hence when I really started looking for an MX-5 as an alternative! Nah, haven't gone down to look at it yet - mainly because he won't budge at all on the price and when you ask him to take even a few hundred off for the power steering pump replacement he replies with "I'm not a charity case.". Cheeky bugger.

ZARA , just the normal stuff and drive it. I bet you will love it. I have a supercharged NA and I love it. Come for a ride in mine, for a road car supercharging is great.

STIG, as I said. The reason he wont budge is because it seems very cheap. If it is any good it is well worth that. And no its not my car

Aww sucks. That day claimed many cars, VSPEC lost his transmission and my 540i lost my waterpump. I know a few GTR owners hesitant to track them for that very reason

So it's lost p/s eh?

I'm not going down yet as I have to wait for my car to have the cash. No point going down to check it out without the purchasing power

Fair enough, Warrior :) Just I ask him a few questions and he's pretty abrupt. But if the car's worth it, who cares haha.

Yeah, most of the cars left that day with issues eh. Lucky I think mine's only a clutch release bearing, but don't have access to a hoist just yet - so means it's going to need to go in to the shop for this one! He reckons the power steering is weak, so assume that means it's on the way out. Don't know if that's a big job or not, but surely can't be too bad to do.

10am-4pm, basically non-stop. Ridiculous. After riding in yours it almost seems unnecessary to go forced induction

i wouldnt say it was "cheap" its a fair price. most of the turbo ones are going for 7-9K and the s charged ones arent as sought after as the turbos because they dont make the same sort of power....so it is ok. the PS ump is easy to change....id be more concerned with the soft top condition

He mentioned that it leaks in "heavy rain". But I was going to source a hardtop straight away, so that wasn't an issue. Plus I've got enough car covers around here that could wrap around it twice

Hah mine does as well, I think most do when its absolutely pouring down unless you've recently replaced the soft top & seals.
