Hi slydit...this is where you are partly right!?

Notes:
On Miatas without a return line (99+), the high flow pumps flow more fuel at any given pressure level than is needed for a stock vehicle. They tend to overload the OEM FPR and cause the system to run rich even in vacuum. Tuning is required with the high pressure pumps due to increased fuel pressure.

the NB definitly need a better pump as they lean out at high rpmb ecause of the higher pressure/flow requirements. the NA6 FPR cannot cope with a 255 walbro. its well documented.

Just been for a couple of hours drive with the Walbro and haven't noticed it not coping...maybe when I thrash it on the track???

its the idle fuel pressure that get screwed up. the FPR cannot dump off enough flow to keep the pressure down to its correct level ...it should only be 35 psi and rise to 43ish psi off idle. with the 255 your fuel pressure will always be 43+ and the reg isnt actually regulating fuel at all properly at idle. you might not notice it if you have a full ECU but your idle tune will still be iffy because the fuel pressure wont be as consistant as it should be.

Not to my MX5 but to my work truck that had a new paint job done last week.... Dumped half a bag of iron oxide over it so my white car is now orange red. Did not go down well at the office  that shit goes EVERYWHERE! especially when you lose 15 kg of the stuff out of the bag

LOOK! It seems like it even landed on your Smiley face......
Could be worse though.... You might have done it to your own car!

yep! something like that... will hopefully finish it today as I got sidetracked hunting down an oil leak which has turned out to be the inlet cam oil seal.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the crankshaft seal is OK!
Ahh cool would be interested to see pics when it's done.

Argh I know how you feel about oil leaks.... Fixed my inlet cam oil seal only to see a drip from somewhere else now. Have a feeling that the valve cover gasket doesn't like being torqued down, removed and torqued down again 10 times.

Edit: I took my car to the SCCNZ Ardmore Autocross today. Awesome fun. Only one other MX5 running there though.

I had a productive morning...

I started by installing some kenwood speakers a mate gave me. (the foam is 'vent strip' and is there to eliminate rattle from the door card speaker cover)
Image

Secondly, I installed my gps holder.... the old mount for it had a suction cup that decided it didn't want to suck. so I made a bracket, painted it and covered the exposed bits in CF vinyl ... just because...
Image

And this is it installed. Its actually really convenient now and to stop it shaking loose I have a large bulldog paper clip pinching it all together from the front (one of the old style black ones made of spring steel)

Try putting it where the speaker screws to the door as well

Ooooh an update...

Well, the engine is baked, I've almost finished the monstrosity in the garage and went the other day to check some shit on the car and the battery was flat, decided I'd take it out and put it on slow charge while I'm working on the bitch. There's 2 reasons I'm glad I did this.

1. See below picture

Image

2. This means I now have a chance to test the colours I wanted to paint my bay to get an idea of what they will look like.

It's been a while between updates so I'll let the pictures do the talking.*

Wire brushed the rust off

Image

Dropped down some primer

Image

Meanwhile I took to removing the bits that hold the battery in and hope they're not past best

Image

Image

The colour of them makes me wonder if the car either started life as a smurf/nigra or they've had to be sourced

Image

I think to be honest, I'll be going black for the bay. Hides dirt, easy to clean and quite frankly, when I finally win lotto and paint the bitch, it will match.

Image

The remainder of the bits all cleaned up. Nothing my dremel and wire brush and a rattle can couldn't fix...

Image

And the finished result

Image

I've got plans now to paint the entire boot. Car is being stripped for something fancy coming in a few weeks. Need to get her running first so thinking I'll paint the interior black to match.*

Here's a spoiler...

Oh... and I ate a 1kg burrito to get a free Lucho Libre mask at Mad Mex...

Added a foot of guitar cable onto my antenna cable and got my radio going again. Turns out there was a band expander sitting in there doing nowt. Also earthed... Something. Not sure what it was.
Hid the front end aux cable as best I could.
Did a skid, etc.
