Was chasing Chris in his mx5, entered turn 2 at Pukekohe with too much speed while braking which caused the tail end to step out, corrected it but was still going 90-100k's or so in the wrong direction straight at a tyre wall.

2low2c that would be amazing, will get in contact tomorrow

So, cut the bumper.

A lot.

And abused it.

Wasn't my mx5 that crashed, it was my starlet that I had on the cruise the other week.
Going to get the mx5 road legal so I can drive it around while I fix all the issues on the starlet

I replaced my cracked expensive headers with standard ones...interestingly, I don't notice much difference in power but the standard ones are definitely noisier than my Maxim Works 4-2-1s were.

Track days, here I come

One man bleed using the stick that jams against the drivers seat technique
Was having real trouble changing gears last part of my journey on saturday

Why oh why does mx5 have a clutch line that goes to the passengers side then all the way back again... oh right ... amerkin market ....

cried softly into my empty beer fund after paying out 160 bucks to bandits on sunday for a new battery and today for having to spend 200 bucks on a new tyre :(

Spent an hour and a quarter getting my passenger seat out. 3 bolts out in 2 mins, all the time spent on the last including chisels and dremmel with cutting wheel, in the dark, sobbing and wishing I still had money for beer.

Eugh, new battery for me sometime... Brakes first, but those damn wheels have got to go. Rrhh.

Also washed it and took my little brother across a carpark in it.

Cleaned out the inside; really want to a) fix the carpet coming away issue in passenger footwell, b) rip out the remaining sound deadening, and c) try get the bit of my dash down by the bonnet release to not come away and move everything when I want the bonnet up.
Now all I need is another set of holidays during which the weather is not complete and utter shite.

Side note: Got yelled at by gruvbb.

Picked up a pair of S2000 seats to replace my worn/cracked tan leather seats. Just squeezed two in the passenger side with a bit of a hump in the soft top

This weekends job maybe, make some brackets or transfer the seatpans from old seats to S2000 seats :D

Hoping for this sort of look with the seats, only they're half leather/vinyl and half cloth so I won't slide around as much on the twisties!

Spookily, my central locking has started working again with the new battery, the old one must have been well shagged.

Do the s2000 seats have headrest speakers and the big steel brace thing in them?

No speakers, not exactly much of a loss as when the tops down I want to hear the engine ;) With the top up, I hear the stereo fine :)

As for rollover protection, unsure, I'd imagine they have to provide a certain amount of shoddy protection just like the MX5 seats. Just don't kid yourself that mx5 seats offer much, the seats can bend just like any others. Just prepare to duck in the unlikely event of a rollover.

Besides, certainly offers more than the low back seats I was thinking of getting :D

mmmmm LHD conversion. That'll be a unique look in NZ  Actually the S2000 seats should look good, do they change much in the way of head clearance? I'm pretty sure they have a big steel bar in them (they're heavy?).

I think I'll e switching the seat pans over so in theory it should be the same headroom wise, maybe a bit higher, I'll know more at the weekend :)

S2000s have a rollbar (of sorts) behind the seat...so I can't imagine the seat itself would have strength to help in a rollover

There's not much strength in any factory seat when you think about it, in a roll you're relying that 4 12mm bolts don't give, or the reclining mechanism doesn't break, reality is that the headrest will fold on you more often than not.

Do a search for rolled mx5's on google... Only a proper roll bar/cage is going to save you. Not even a tin top is much use on a 'normal' car.

Silicon radiator hoses in! Pro tip: Pull your air box out to get to the last one.
Brakes ordered, so I'm looking forward to a fun weekend doing them.
