Had an early start today. Up at 6 and went for a cruise on my bike. Ended up doing some lycra spotting (oops, was that out loud..... I mean ridong in fresh air) along the waterfront and saw the 2 yachts that got washed up on the rocks after the storm and the flooded apartments at Kohi. Got to feel the pain for the boat owners. Got home and did an oil change on the bike and then started work on the car.... Pulled back passenger carpet and sorted out my rusty ECU brackets and cover. These had rusted from a stuffed rain rail from when I purchased car last year. I knew about it and had scored a replacement cover/ bracket from Ross some time back..... Kept it in the spare room and 'forgot' about it. Thought it a good time to tackle that and run new wiring for headrest speaker amp etc...
Wire brushed and vacuumed rusty deposits and sprayed with cold galv. Once that dried I squirted some red on top. Replaced ECU, ran amp wire and replaced carpet.
Also painted the fuel hose cover in the boot. I had cleaned that up last year but never got round to painting it. While the cover was out it got a blast of paint also.
Having a coffe now while its raining then back out to run power feed from battery to amp.

here's a useful thread regarding the installation of the flared arches.
http://www.mx5nutz.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=125864
note how the rear arches will most likely require a little but of mig work due to the nature of how they are comprised of 2 sheets of panel steel coming together.

haha, believe it or not but its where I work. We are allowed to use the hanger in the weekends and after work to play with our toys or do little jobs to keep the beer fridge fullGRUVBB wrote:What an Evel looking shed.....
Yes I believe the fronts are only a single skin so they only need cutting, but the rears being twin skined need to be cut, folded and welded or sealed some how, but Ill be welding them.MrGrey wrote:note how the rear arches will most likely require a little but of mig work due to the nature of how they are comprised of 2 sheets of panel steel coming together.

Good luck with the Drifts today Siren..... Keep it cool. You haven't been doing a lot of drift time for awhile. Get the feel before you give it too much. I want to hear that the car has been been healthily driven back onto the trailer at the end of the day.siren676 wrote:Loaded it up onto a trailer to take it to a drift day tomorrow

Will definitely be taking it easy, have done quite a few mods and fixes so it'll be a little different to drive.

Went down to meremere today for a drift day. MX5 went well after for not being driven for nearly 6 months, had some nice close tandems and the new mods worked perfectly.
As usual i cant go to an event without breaking something, the alternator tensioner broke off so fixed it with a cable tie which held it for around 15 flat out runs until i got a puncture and called it a day.
Completely forgot to put my sports cam on the car so i didnt get any footage but some friends got some on their ride alongs.
Edit - Found one pics already

Awesome Fooesboy. It only seems like a couple of weeks since we were with you and your car at Hamilton. Looking forward to seeing the new version at The Cruise.
As for my car; today i completed the Alpine amp installation that was donated to me by My New Mate Warrior. It makes the Rockfords in the headrests pump along. Thanks again Warrior.

I'm still in two minds as to which way to go.
I went to see Jared late last year and drove his supercharged race car and his friends turbo charged car. The supercharger was more than fast enough for me but I am very conscious that so many people say that you quickly get use to the power and then want more... The turbo was nuts and I had to change my undies!!!!
I have decided that if I do go supercharger then I will use the Rotrex from Track Dog Racing, not a cheep option but I like how thorough and well designed it looks
