Group buy for Garage Star licence plate bracket?

Post by fooesboy » Sat Aug 31, 2013 6:53 pm

Hey guys,

I was wondering if there was any interest is getting together a group buy for the Garage Star licence plate bracket?

http://garagestar.com/shop/type1_licens ... acket.html

The guy who was selling these on TradeMe is/has moved to Australia.

If there is enough interest I would be happy to organise everything.

Chris

I had in cnc laser cut for myself. Still got the cad file and ended up so stupid cheap. Can chat to them about a group buy if you guys want a cheaper option?

That could work out.

Just have to see if people are more interested in having a name brand option or the cheapest option.

I have not contacted Garage Star yet to ask for prices, but I guess that they would be somewhere about $70.00 NZD each depending on the amount of people who partake.

Having them laser cut locally and getting the bolts from EDL in bulk would be much cheaper.

If you are getting some done via CNC & template then I would be interested.

I'm not, however, interested in an overpriced garage star one as they are far to expensive for what (to me) is a cosmetic upgrade.

you dont even need all that bracket. the number plate is fairly rigid as it is....just get some 50x3 flat bar from bunnings and bend it to suit.

I am sure you could make a bracket like you suggest. I though prefer a more finished / professional look.

I will edit the first post with to show how many people are interested.

Would be keen on a license plate mount, not necessarily the GarageStar one :D

Is it possible to bend the bracket the other way to mount the plate to the lefthand side instead of the righthand side?

I originally intended mine for the other side, literally clamped it in a vice and bent it and realised I'd done it backwards... No cares :P

I think that I would send them out flat and people could bend them however they preferred.

At this stage I think we will have them laser cut using Snapfrozen's CAD drawing if he consents.

No problem, I really want one of these brackets and money for toys is a bit tight at the moment so any way to make it a bit cheaper is good for me too!!!! :D so really this just a selfish trip I'm on 8)

Include me in this deal, I need something so I don't feel threatened every time I drive past a cop with my current, barely visible sticker "number plate"

I have a mate who sells stainless fittings. He gives an awesome discount here in Auckland. Am happy to work in with Snapfrozen and do bulk purchase and deliver to finished brackets prior to despatch if that helps out.
