I just noticed this now, and it only has 4 hours to go at the time of posting, but here is a potentially cheap towbar for an NA.

I read the trademe add and all I could think was....

"eeesh, this vendor should have paid more attention in school and learned how to spell and communicate properly"

I came across this tonight and wondered what your thoughts are.

basically a 2nd hand turbo kit for a grand but you would still need an ECU.

Price is reasonable if everything's in good nick, but the kkk is a bit of an orphan, and the bunch of bananas manifold is prone to cracking, and that downpipe looks a bit sub optimal. You need an intercooler, so half of your intake piping goes in the bin.

So you could end up with a $1000 box of junk.

Personally I'd go with a commercial log manifold and downpipe like the BeGi offering and build from there. I'm getting mine custom welded out of steam pipe but that's cause i have a pet welder who owes me a favour and I'm cheap.

Just my 10c worth though...

My munted NA is in the garage, looking very forlorn.
To make myself feel better, looked on trademe, flew to Hamilton, bought low mileage NZ new 'Winning Blue' NC manual...its on the rail deck of the Arahura as we speak, en route to Arrowtown! :D

I came across this supercharged MX5 in trademe and wondered what your thoughts are.
As I'm newly registered to the forum, I can't post any urls. The plate is CMF378.

The car is in Invercargill and I'm from Wellington. So won't be able to do a test drive easily.

The former plate is Toy2 - I recall stumbling across this member name in the past. His old ride maybe?

Any help would be appreciated.
I love my stock '89 Special Edition but sometimes could use some more power...

Cheers
Stephan

Thanks guys,

yes the S/C is why I'm looking at this car.
The price seems good. I'm just unsure if I should risk buying it unseen.

Cheers

Take a day off work, grab a cheap one way flight, take the risk and just go look at it. Be a nice drive home if you snap it up. If you dont its probably another day off work and some serious hitchhiking to get back.

i would budget for a decent engine management ecu. its strange that the engine was replaced and that indicates poor tuning. look for a megasquirt ECU
