Its basically a bunch of grooves in the shock body, The spring seat slides over the C Clip and holds/hides it. So all you see is the other grooves further down.
The standard height is set but I got 2 cut slightly lower down.

What is it that you need to rebuild to get them lower? that sounds like undoing the circlip and popping it down a few rungs?

It is, but you have to have the shock off to do it.

not really a full rebuild then I wouldnt think.
Gotta unbolt my shock to adjust it too, and it's sleeve adjustable. and requires cert - I'm seeing less and less reason that you don't require cert..
I'd speak to a certer to see what the stz is if you wanna be fully fully legal. but i agree that nobody at a WOF station will pick up on it without it having a threaded sleeve like a normal adjustable coilover.

Circlip adjustable shocks didn't use to require certification from memory, but then I do seem to remember there being something more specific in the thresholds that made a definition between them so perhaps it has been amended...?

Yeah i'm specifically looking for a rule that excludes them, but can't seem to find it in that threshold guide. Maybe its in the WOF manual or something

I think from memory they technically do need to be as theyre adjustable, however because theyre not screw type they get left out 99% of the time as they look like OE replacements

comes down to whether you want insurance or not i guess. If you're insured and not certed for circlip adjustable suspension, and you have an accident, can near guarantee they won't pay out.... Guess it depends if you want insurance or not....

Back on topic, I removed the organgey jaffa centres from my front lights. An easy job that makes a decent difference. Just remember to buy some orange bulbs to replace the ones you take out

I really need to get around to doing this myself! This weekend when I drop by Supercheap/Repco to pick up a hose clamp perhaps....

I always thought it was strange that people pulled them out of the lights but now I understand that the bulbs get replaced with orange ones. Makes sense. Guess I'll give it a go now that that's cleared up.

the spring perch adjustment effectively changes the length of the shock UNDER the spring perch and thus alters height. the spring length stays the same under all height ranges.

A claim cannot be declined unless what was deemed to be unwarrantable was directly causative of the event. So basically they would have to prove that your non-warrantable suspension had failed or somehow caused you to crash, which is unlikely. Therefore that should not be your major concern.
Circlip adjustables are generally no problem for warrants, but yeah, fully adjustables are so cheap these days anyway, might as well get them and get a cert for them and your turbo at the same time!

Went to drive home from work today, turned my lights on and the headlights didnt come up
Turns out i've left the hazard switch unpluged after my radio install yesterday causing the headlights not to work.
So a careful drive home in the dark taking the backroads with 1 indicator and parkers for light i made it home safely.
Lesson learnt - check all connections before re-assembling the dash

pretty sure there's no rules for insurance companies. they make the rules as they go along.
There's a reason you need to tell them about all mods to a vehicle, surely?
Otherwise, i would be confident in installing adjustables in my car, never telling them, and going on my merry way paying the insurance premium of an unmodded car.
There's a good reason your insurance premiums skyrocket when you've modded a vehicle.
So if you have an accident in a modded vehicle, and you havent told your insurance company about the mods, and you havent been paying the premiums for those mods, why should they pay out your claim if you havent' been truthful with them about what's actually been done to your car? You havent paid them the full amount that would have been required for the service you would be receiving.

There are actually quite a few rules for insurance, the one I was referring to is laid out in the Insurance Law Reform Act 1977. It's quite surprising all the intricacies really.
You are exactly right about not paying the premiums owed, in fact it is not uncommon for an insurance company to backdate a premium, calculate what you would have been paying to be adequately covered and take it out of your claim amount, better that then being declined cover.
We should probably cease the thread hijack though! We could do a whole thread on insurance mis-conceptions and clarifications.
What I did was nothing, although what I really should do is swap back out my Apexi's because one is leaking

I just can't bring myself to undo all the work I did so soon. Stupid Trademe buys.
