Style bars

Post by Colin Francis » Sun Jan 25, 2004 10:35 pm

I seem to remember reading that someone had an address for a North Island
company that made them some style bars . Anybody got a better memory than me
(Everybody has actually) :)

Style bars

Dear Colin

Best ones I have seen are from Christchurch - contact Darcy at
parts@mazline.co.nz

However, there does seem to be one slight drawback in fitting a style bar
between the brace points on the NA. The standard brace has an angle in it
which allows the seats to move back an extra 2" or so. By fitting a style
bar which is straight in this area, you will lose that extra legroom.

I recently fitted a factory windblocker (bought cheap from the UK for 58
pounds sterling (NZ$160) - NZ dealer price NZ$990!) and fitting that has
necessitated re-mounting the brace backwards so it actually juts forward 2".
I can manage that - I am 5'10 and my wife 5'0 - but it is a little tight
even so and the seat leather is right against the brace bar. I have a friend
who is 6'4 who drives my car occasionally, though. He is now completely
unable to drive the car as his thighs hit the steering wheels and he has the
top of the screen right in front of his eyes. I am going to replace the
brace with a style bar to regain 2" of the 4" lost, which will make it
better for me but probably not good enough for him.

Perhaps some other members might have a solution?

Simon

Hello all, I'm also in search of good style bars. Anyone who could recommend
a company based in the north (Auckland if possible) that makes the ' n '
shaped style bars, in chrome would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance
for any help.

Buy a cute wee sporty Momo steering wheel - we had to do this when we
purchased the car so Michael could fit his legs in - feels super to drive as
well!
We made our own windblocker for about $30, and an hour or so labour.

Thanks for the thought - mine already has a Momo with an airbag, so that's
not really an option though!

Hi Simon
I bought a windblocker from Le Mans Fabrics in Wellington, cost me about
$125 from memory, it just fits on the back of the seats with elastic and
works brilliantly. The brace remains in the original orientation.

I am just a touch over 6 ft and 100 Kg, with quite long legs, but I find no
problem in getting the seat back far enough. Mind you it is all the way back
with the seat back reclined almost as far as it will go, but it is a
comfortable position, I have driven 600 km in a day and had no problems
