Hi, I've just sourced a pair of genuine front mudguards from a US Mazda
dealer, as I was sick of cleaning the tar off the side of the car. The
quality of the kit/instructions was excellent, but at about NZ$150, I
thought it was overpriced for some moulded plastic and 8 screws.
The sad part is, I was quoted NZ$250 by my local Mazda dealer for the same
parts. They also would have had to order them in.
Have we had this discussion before about why there seems to be such a large
discrepancy?

There have been investigations into extortionate parts pricing in NZ, the
dealers always have a reason and the Commerce commission puts it in the too
hard basket.
It's like wine prices at restaurants.

I've come up against the same price barriers. They're even $200+gst
unpainted from Ross Campbell (MX5Mart in Hamilton). Does your $150
figure include shipping, gst, etc? If so, that's the best price I've
seen -- where did you order them from?

That is a good deal. I would be interested also at NZ$150. Presumably they
are unpainted.
Perhaps if there are a few MX5er's out there that want some we could put
together a bulk order.
